Conclusie
Voor een prijs die onder de € 1000 ligt is de HD20 een unieke projector. Je koopt een full HD projector met een redelijke hoge lightoutput voor een bedrag waar we een paar jaar geleden alleen maaar over konden dromen en die er volgens sommige nooit zou komen.
Echter het gemis aan lensshift is mijns inziens de grootste misser. Tel daarbij op de slechte scaling van niet 1080i/p materiaal en het verhaal word wat moeilijker. Ik zou persoonlijk wat meer geld uitgeven. Echter het eerst interesante product zit meteen op minimaal 30% meer en op dit soort bedragen is dat meteen een behoorlijke investering. Als je een budget hebt dat niet hoger ligt dan € 1000 is de HD20 een zeer maar dan ook echt zeer interessante projector. Vooral 1080p aangeboden materiaal ziet er netjes uit en zal voor veel filmavonden plezier geven.

Beeld
Ik heb verschillende Blu-Ray films bekeken die bekend zijn en ik kan zeggen ondanks de niet zo spectaculaire meet gegevens dat het beeld er goed uitziet en beslist met andere projectors mee kan.
Kleur is na het wat verlagen van color en wat tint afstelling toch redelijk goed nog iets over gesatureerd maar niet echt storend.
Zoals gewend bij DLP is het beeld zeer dynamisch met ruim voldoende licht voor een scherm tot 230cm.
Wel heb ik DB uitgezet omdat die te traag werkt.

Optoma HD82 bekroond met Digital Movie Award voor Videoprojector van het Jaar 2009-2010

Begin december heeft het tijdschrift Digital Movie de Digital Movie Awards uitgereikt aan de winnaars tijdens een feestelijke borrel. De Awards zijn in de loop der jaren uitgegroeid tot een felbegeerde prijs op het gebied van consumentenelektronica. Dat de bekendheid van de Awards ieder jaar groeit, blijkt uit het aantal stemmers: maar liefst 5367 respondenten kozen in twintig categorieën het meest innovatieve en kwalitatief goede product. In de categorie Videoprojector van het Jaar 2009-2010 is de Optoma HD82 als beste uit de bus gekomen met als resultaat een Digital Movie Award.

Een DLP-chip van een nieuwe generatie legt in combinatie met een geavanceerde videoprocessing de basis voor een detailrijke beeldkwaliteit in de 1920 x 1080 HD-resolutie, waarbij met name de vloeiende weergave van bewegingen in beeld opvalt. Vooral gezien de enorme contrastomvang, gekoppeld aan een flinke lichtopbrengst en een aantrekkelijk prijsniveau, kennen de lezers en de redactie van Digital Movie de Digital Movie Award voor de Videoprojector van het Jaar 2009-2010 toe aan de Optoma HD82.

Een lijst met alle winnaars staat op www.digitalmovie.nl/awards. De juryrapporten staan in de decemberuitgave, die zowel op papier als 100% identiek online verschijnt. Uitgever Mik Fetvaciyan: “de Award zorgt voor onderscheid binnen een specifieke categorie: tegenwoordig zijn er erg veel producten op deze markt en het is voor de consument zeer lastig om te kiezen.”

Conclusie

We hebben een kampioen in handen. Waar het gaat om een gunstige verhouding tussen prijs en kwaliteit verslaat de Optoma HD20 op overtuigende wijze de concurrentie. Er wordt een goede HD-beeldkwaliteit geleverd, en wie had dat een paar jaar geleden op dit prijsniveau voor mogelijk gehouden?

Verdict

If you wanted to be really miserable, you could get your knickers in a twist about the fact that one of the HD82's most high-profile features, its motion processing, doesn't really deliver the goods. However, the core picture quality produced by the HD82, even without the motion processing in play, is so profoundly excellent that the projector is still worth every solitary penny of its £3,000 asking price…and then some.

The good

No messing around here: this is one of the best projectors around. The images that the Optoma HD82 throws out are so sharp you could almost cut your eyes on them. That whopping contrast ratio also ensures that blacks are as black as a dark hole and whites as bright as a nuclear explosion. Optoma's PureMotion engine means that it's great for action scenes too, inserting extra frames to ensure smooth viewing. Very clever. It's a breeze to set up too. Just connect your Blu-ray player up to one of the HDMI inputs and away you go. Simples. Massive 302 images on your wall, no problemo.

The bottom line

The closest you'll come to turning your lounge into a cinema. All you have to do now is trample some popcorn into the floor and you're there

Conclusie

Maar het beeld ziet er fantastisch uit als we gewoon een film gaan kijken. Het beeld is zeer helder, mooi gedetailleerd en de projector tovert een mooie diepte op het beeld. Waar een paar jaar geleden projectoren van het digitale segment nog konden worden afgedaan als 'leuke toverlantaarns', zijn het tegenwoordig professionele projectoren voor een consumentenprijs die de gemiddelde bioscoopervaring ver voorbij gaan. Met de HD82 van Optoma word een zeer goede projector neergezet die ik alleen maar van harte kan aanbevelen voor mensen die een goede DLP zoeken binnen dit segment.

Conclusion

The Optoma HD72 was an outstanding projector when it was released one year ago, and it remains a solid, competitive projector today. The HD73 isn't an upgrade or replacement for the HD72, per se, but a similar projector made for different needs and environments. While the HD72 is a great multipurpose projector, the HD73 is a wonderful home theater projector for classic dark room viewing. As long as you keep its mounting limitations in mind and properly plan your installation, the HD73 is an impressive projector that can serve well as a cost-effective solution for great video and data display in your home theater.

DVDO iScan VP50 and Themescene HD3000 in FWD Magazine februari 2007

Conclusie

Het toestel is ten opzichte van de DVDO ruimer voorzien van video-ingangen. De Themescene HD3000 - die gebruik maakt van de Gennum VXP-technologie - moet op bijna alle vlakken zijn meerdere erkennen in de DVDO VP50, zeker bij de-interlacing en scaling. Enkel bij het beheer van de beeldparameters, en vooral dan de kleuren, biedt de HD3000 meer mogelijkheden.

Een demo-mode - die één deel van het scherm toont zonder en de rest mét de aanpassingen - maakt het makkelijk om het effect van bepaalde instellingen op het scherm te zien. De Optoma Themescene HD3000 is heel wat minder duur, maar biedt volgens ons dan ook minder waarde dan de DVDO VP50.

Performance
The picture is extremely sharp and bright. It maintains excellent color saturation. High-definition sources give an excellent picture through the HDMI input. HD DVDs such as King Kong, M-I-III, the Phantom of the Opera and Batman Returns display a picture which is like a 35mm film. These HD DVDs use VC1 method to store the picture and if you play this picture through the Toshiba HD XA-1 High Definition DVD player in 1080i @60 hertz through the HDMI output you get a very sharp and bright picture full of vibrant colors.

Conclusion
Themescene HD73™ has DarkChip3™. High brightness, High contrast and advanced technologies like BrilliantColor™ technology and TrueVivid™ image processing makes it very attractive. Its price is another main attraction. Considering all these high end values and an affordable price the Themescene HD73™ can be declared the best Home Theater projector in this price range!

"De Beeldkwaliteit is verassend goed. Het regenboogeffect is maar in beperkte mate aanwezig. Het kleurenpallet oogt mooi natuurlijk en de zwartweergave is opmerkelijk goed voor deze prijsklasse. Daar komt bij dat de Themescene HD70 ook nog betrekkelijk stil zijn werk doet."

Advantages:

* Brightest projector in the group—great for larger screen theaters

Limitations:

* Lensing places restrictions on installation options
* Added cost and effort to ceiling mount

The Optoma HD81 is the ideal solution for a larger scale home theater. It comes very close to matching the Mitsubishi HC5000 in sharpness of an HD image, but it has superior black level and contrast. Even in low power mode it pumps out about 500 ANSI lumens, so it is capable of lighting up a 150" diagonal screen or larger in a way that none of the competition can. In larger viewing rooms the fan noise becomes much less relevant. It is more expensive than the others, but if you are going for a large scale theater with an image size of 150" or more, you've already putting more money into the room and screen, and going for a larger budget solution. For this type of theater, ceiling mounting is preferred, and the cost and effort to ceiling mount are non-issues. If we were building a big theater room, the Optoma HD81 is the first 1080p projector we'd be considering.
